Soy Sauce Bottle

My contest entry for Kikkoman's soy sauce bottle anniversary. I was inspired by the history of soy sauce and the creator of Kikkoman's infamous bottle, Kenji Ekuan. The wooden bucket represents how soy sauce was traditionally mixed by using a long wooden stick with a flat circular piece of wood to help stir the concoction all by hand. The rope wrapped barrel was how soy sauce was originally stored and shipped in, with the company logo stamped on it. The half gallon container which inspired Ekuan to create the modern soy sauce bottle after he witnessed his mother struggling to pour soy sauce from the big and cumbersome vessel, as a young boy. And finally, the four main ingredients for soy sauce- soy beans, salt, wheat, and water- is sprinkled throughout the bottle. All of these elements come together to make up the condiment's iconic shape.
