National Civil War Museum Mailer

The National Civil War Museum is a nonprofit educational institution with a collection of 24,000 artifacts. In 2021 the museum is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its founding. The self-mailer is used to market the museum, and its new website. The mailer combines the marketing phrase “Reflecting Our Past, Lessons For Our Future” with traditional Civil War portraits. The portraits show different people who took part in the war itself. In the background of the mailer you will find historic battle maps. As you view the mailer, you first see “reflecting on our past”, then as you open the piece, you are greeted with “lessons for our future”. This is paired with a Union soldier, Abraham Lincoln, and Fredrick Douglas. This is meant to convey the idea of race relations, and the lessons we should take from the Civil War of equality and freedom. The mailer contains a QR code, which once scanned would take you to the new NCWM website, allowing you to take the NCWM Reflecting Our Past Quiz. Which will tell you what you would’ve done during the Civil War.
