Egyptian Book of the Dead - Mocktober 2021

About time for me to make a Dribbble post again, huh? For this year's Mocktober I challenged myself by focusing on an aspect of design that I normally shy away from: vector art and my old nemesis, that jerk of a pen tool. After considering a bunch of ideas, I landed on the Egyptian Book of the Dead as a topic, partnered up with the amazingly talented Steve Krichten, and said goodbye to my free time for the month.

In addition to helping me work through the concept, Steve created all of the 3D elements, the video, the papyrus sheets, and even got his hands dirty working in Figma a bit. I handled all of the 2D vector illustrations, intro page, and web design aspects.

You can check out the full shot with Steve's contributions here.

And the mostly fully functional Figma prototype is here.

Historically, I've never been a big fan of the pen tool, but after having worked with it so closely over the past weeks...I actually still hate it, but dammit, I respect it.

Sorry for the blurriness on the images, I'm not sure what's going on with Dribbble. Pretend they're crisp, because the native files are.
