Community Centre (1/3)
(1/3) My final studio group project in my first semester of third year was to design a community centre for an open plot of land near downtown Cambridge. After researching Cambridge, we discovered that the city was very car-centric. We wanted to change that narrative and encourage people to walk/bike/bus to our centre.
To accomplish this, we arranged our site to make the entrances most convenient to pedestrians and inconvenient to people travelling by car. There are also three outdoor spaces most accessible by foot: a courtyard, a garden, and an outdoor court.
Check out my next post to see how the building looks!
