The Kindling King

I'm saving the queen for a later day, even though the king is more important. One step in every direction to move or take - unless the king is compromised by the opponents' piece.

I think the king is an interesting piece. The entire game revolves around wrestling the other player into a locked pattern where there is no other option for the king but surrendering. The king itself can play a vital role in its own eventual demise - when he's under fire, or threatened - he must take action. Yeah he can move how he likes, but only in a limited distance. Quite dangerous.
