Search & Rescue Operations Map

Squamish Search & Rescue is one of the busiest SAR teams in Canada. This WIP layered interactive map highlights the different geographic areas that the SAR teams responds to with the challenges of operating in each. Annual callout information is overlayed and includes an event description and task data. The intention behind the map is to aid the event debrief, highlight geographic trends, communicate the teams capabilities to the media and local government, as well as educate the public in the risks in recreating in certain areas.

Map base design was created from scratch using Mapbox Studio and includes common recreational travel routes including logging roads, hiking/biking trails as well as popular alpine ascents and traverses. Interactivity created with Mapbox GL JS.
