Daily UI 013 Direct Messaging Feature
Here's my redesign for Goodreads' messaging feature. I really don't understand why their messaging tool is the way that it is, but I'm sure they have their reasons. At any rate, it was a fun project, and here are a few of my insights.
First, Goodreads is a social networking site designed for people to connect over... well, good reads. No reason the messaging interface shouldn't send that message. Profile pictures, text bubbles, and icons are all added to give the feature a fun, social dynamic.
Softer colors for groups gives a little personality. Added action icons help to make the messaging process seem less rudimentary. Varied colors of text bubbles aid the user in distinguishing between who is speaking.
The "type something" text box has a few added features and incorporates goodreads' branding.
Also, I tried to create an overlay visual by extending the chat box section to include "my inbox."
Everything here (icons, fonts, etc.) is recreated in Figma, no pasting or screenshots used for this one!
As always, would love your feedback!
