GIS - in property management optimization

The applications of geographic information technology are not limited to geographical features on the Earth’s surface. One rapidly developing segment of GIS is property management optimization, including logistics inside buildings and companies.
Examples include the logistics optimization of an enterprise consisting of a large number of manufacturing shops and departments, or the display of engineering systems for technical services management and quick fixing of malfunctions. Another important emerging challenge is office space management through 2D or 3D floor plan visualization, including furniture and equipment.
For our part, We - The Flexatel team - have contributed to the creation of an interactive GIS-based portal for managing internal logistics. Made for one of Russia’s largest banks, the portal facilitates seating of employees and placement of objects through detailed displays of floor plans, offices, and departments. The system includes the following features:
• An interactive portal for floor plans of bank branches and offices, including the central office
• Visual display and attributive information on building features (load-bearing walls, doors, stairs, windows, elevators, furniture, engineering systems, workplaces, working rooms, etc.)
• Automated selection of job vacancies and placement of new/temporary employees
• Display of workspace floor plans, with modification options
• Integration with ERP SAP
• Creation of analytical reports
• Color differentiation by purpose for various objects
