Nissan Electric Vehicles Poster

This is a little mock-up advertisement for Nissan Electric vehicles I did a little while back. My goal going into this project was to test my print design skills.

I am hopeful that car manufacturers will take responsibility to focus their sales towards electric vehicles in the coming years to protect the planet from climate change and think it is a cause worthy of recognition. This led me to my objective for the piece, which would be to show the transition from Nissan's first electric vehicle in the Tama (1947), to their incredibly successful Leaf (2020) electric vehicle.

Nissan developed the Tama in response to an oil shortage in Japan during the time period. I am sure Japan is not going throuh an oil shortage today, but with the move away from gasoline automobiles the situation is not completely different. I felt that highlighting their Japanese heritage fit naturally because the Tama was developed due to a national Japanese issue. The juxtaposition of the different vehicles displays the progress that both electric vehicles and Japan have made since the late 1940s. These reasons led me to include the red symbol in the background to represent the Japanese flag. The red circle is a symbol of progress for the Japanese people and is used in this design to further show the progress of electric vehicles. The work displays a transition from a difficult time for both the Japanese people and for traditional vehicles to the modern era of progress and the beginning of the mass-production of electric vehicles.

I am in no way associated with Nissan, nor do I own the images. This is simply a portfolio piece for me to practice my design skills.
