Disqus Onboarding (Animated)

Using the Disqus Profile Cards as my building blocks, I designed the Disqus Onboarding flow. My primary goal was to emphasize profile completion, which increases the network’s value, and promote following other users, which increases network participation.

After crunching some data, we removed the first step in the flow originally dedicated to educating users. Eventually, after some polish, the first step will be brought back into the flow. (I’m not always data-driven but, for onboarding flows, data is a useful tool.)

The onboarding flow is triggered after a new user signs up and then leaves their first comment. In this example, Dr. Brown is ready to leave a comment after browsing the Hill Valley Telegraph with his newly created account.
