Sidewalk Directory
Map / directory concept for a downtown district.
The client - the folks who own most of the property within the district - want to really develop the district as a destination in it's own right, including adding a directory or way-finding graphics of sorts so visitors can find their way around. But in order to preserve the district's natural street culture (and not just put some big box directory in the middle of this natural downtown area), we came up with this concept of spray-painting directionals on the ground, walls, electrical boxes throughout the district. It's low cost, easy to remove/update if tenants change, and totally fits the vibe of the area.
But… if these were your feet walking in a downtown area, and you saw said graphics around… would it make sense to you?
