Peacockodile
The peacockodile has a dazzling smile that is filled with eighty-six teeth. Yet her sparkling eyes tend to hypnotize ‘til you forget the mouth that’s beneath. And her feathers — such feathers! So vibrant and green! A green that is greener than all greens you have seen, you’ll be so amazed, you’ll start ahh-ing and oooh-ing, and kinda forgetting just what you were doing... You just want to touch them — it seems such a crime that she hides them all day (except at lunchtime). But she’s showing them now! So quick, gather near! Look! See, she’s smiling ... there’s nothing to fear. What a welcoming smile, so toothy and white! I’ll just pet her feathers. I’m sure she won’t... CHOMP!
Moral: A DANGER’S A DANGER, EVEN WHEN YOU FORGET IT, JUST 'CAUSE SOMETHING'S PRETTY DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD PET IT.
Excerpt from a children's book I'm trying to get published.
