SPOTLIGHT EFFECT

NOT EVERYBODY IS WATCHING YOU.

THE SPOTLIGHT EFFECT.
This refers to a tendency to overestimate the degree to which we are observed. In other words, we tend to think our mistakes and flaws are highlighted for the world to notice which has an effect on our ability to work or feel comfortable around other people. This tendency not only increases social anxiety but also prevents us from taking decisions that are best for us.

One can overcome the spotlight effect by focusing their attention outward and noticing other people's reactions.
Also, being aware of this effect helps to reduce its impact.
