Blindsight
https://blindsight.space is now live! 🚀
About 4 years ago Danil Krivoruchko, a friend of mine, started working on a personal project where he created CG stills based on the sci-fi novel he loved—"Blindsight" written by Peter Watts. If you haven't read it yet, it's highly recommended. Gradually stills turned into animated frames and as it was not enough, into a short film.
Early this year around March I was dragged into this project by Danil helping him with the website that would become the home for the short firm. The idea for the site is somewhat inspired by the book as well—an interactive collection of logged memories of people who worked on the short and their correspondence with the writer. Each memory is presented in a near-future interface full of videos, images, files, screenshots, messages, etc each describing the detailed process of creating all the visuals. One interesting design detail is that all communication is presented in “chat bubbles” as if you are peeking into someone’s smartphones reading their text messages; as if it is something private.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the website and especially to the Astroshock team who built it. Same way as you can't enjoy the film on a small screen of your phone, you can't fully experience this website on mobile. So please browse and enjoy from your desktop.
