Book Design5

In the first cover I've leveraged contrast between black and white and color to trigger thoughts of: Renewal, Update, or Makeover. In research, I found that minority boys struggle more with reading than any other group. A true reading makeover creates a joy in reading, rather than a disappointment in failure to achieve. In the second cover, I contrast the term "Magic" with the highlighted question "Or Is It?" Teachers know good writing instruction is not magic. Mentor text and learning to mark up or edit their own work is a necessary skill for strong writers. The main title is basically a hook with the subtitle and image communicating the goal of the book. Sometimes it takes a little creativity to keep the title strong while the images tell the "rest of the story."
