Defund The Police 🐖🔨💸🥓
OoOoOo today’s prompt is a bit of a hot button issue 👀 #shaketember day 17: COPS 🐖🔨💸🥓 Been a lot of conversation (and a lot of misunderstanding) here in the US around #defundthepolice. Defunding the police does not necessarily mean getting rid of the police altogether. Rather, it would mean reducing police budgets and reallocating those funds to crucial and oft-neglected areas like education, public health, housing, and youth services—ESPECIALLY in underprivileged communities. It’d help address issues such as poverty, homelessness, and mental health more directly, therefore acting as a better deterrent to crime than law enforcement, which historically has been a harmful institution of systemic racism.
Funny how as I get older I find my inner monologue is probably 30 years of internalized Lisa Simpson agenda 😂
