Short Description: The story of the Chinese New Year celebration, Guo Nian, and why it was given this name

Long Description: Once in ancient China, a village was terrified at the beginning of every year by the demon Nian. He ate their food and took their children away. One year an old man came to the village and did something different, which kept the demon away. Soon the villagers started practicing the New Year celebration traditions of Guo Nian (overcome Nian) that is still practiced to this day.
