Share Bar - Cool or no?

I'm torn and I need some critiques. The site RippleFunction lets you give users a discount coupon code for sharing your event. It seems like a no brainer to use to make buying tickets a bit more viral. But I think the bar looks a little gaudy and lame. I tried making it WMC colors but I feel like it made it worse. Is it even noticable? How could I take this sweet feature/incentive and actually make it cool? UX designers help!
