I've been waiting for an excuse to use Comic Sans again!!! The latest episode of Overtime is out and I’m giving some basic tips and practices for decolonizing your design thinking, which includes a great exercise in thinking about fonts (thanks to a tip from a Walker Art Center interview with Clara Balaguer) Is Comic Sans really that bad? What about Papyrus? Who determines what “good” design and “bad” design is? Usually the people with THE! MOST! POWER! AND! MONEY! AND! THE! LOUDEST! VOICES!

Plus! I talk about a recent FastCo Design piece where Bobby C. Martin gives thoughts on why all those branded apology graphics and posts are falling flat. And! AND! Is hiring your friends bad? Yes! But also no, if you do it the “right” way! But what is the “right” way? I give you tips on how to expand your group of friends and stop giving opportunities to the same dang group of people over and over again.
