Neuroscience lab identity

This identity was designed for a neuroscientific lab, studying connections in the brain. The brief was to show how researching individual small-scale processes and connections can reveal a big picture for us.

I illustrated this idea with an image of a neuron (that can also be seen as a stem of a tree). The dendrites of this neuron form an outline of a brain to represent how crucial the small parts are to the whole. The lights (or fruits on the tree) symbolize various functional centers in the brain, that appear due to connection formation in the brain.

On the whole the logo resembles a leaning tree to show how everything in nature is formed by the similar principles and to draw attention to the plasticity of neuronal function and connectivity.
