Push/Pull

The other day, Greg Hubacek tweeted about this design problem: the push and pull signs on doors. For fans of Gary Larson, it's the "Midvale School for the Gifted" problem.

My quick-and-dirty solution is integrating the wording into the design of the door handles themselves, which also act as visual indicators by being shaped like 3D arrows pointing in the direction of travel.
