Bay to Breakfast logo, 1993
Oops, sorry Trent. I’d mistaken Adam Michela’s comments on his post to mean that the thread was all from 2005.
Here’s the oldest work I could find on my computer. I may have many of the others here beat in terms of oldest work...at the risk of showing my age ; )
I designed this logo in 1993 for a 5k and 10k walk and run for seniors called Bay to Breakfast. It was a play on the popular marathon in San Francisco called Bay to Breakers. In this one, however, senior citizens walked from the SF Bay through the City to a park where they had a big breakfast, lol!
I’m still proud of this logo. Even though it wasn’t particularly well executed, and the typography that went with it was a bit blah, the mark itself was a clever idea and they used it for many years.
It was hand-drawn and then scanned in at 300dpi, saved as a black and white TIFF, then brought into a program Adobe had called Streamline which auto-traced bitmap images before Illustrator could do that. Then it was opened in Illustrator and colorized, saved as an EPS for use in Quark XPress, which ruled the day back then for designing for print.
