Love and Equality

I believe that white privilege is real.

It's easy to remain silent after much has been spoken. It's hard to remain silent after much has been stolen. After so many lives and families have been unfairly and unjustly destroyed, after so many years have gone by without real change.

It's hard to acknowledge there is a problem of inequality. It breaks my heart to hear things like, "My dad taught me how to act and respond around police officers when I was eight because I'm black." There are certain realities people of color have been raised with. Things I never had to worry about. And never will.

As painful as this is, I want to listen and share. I want to be educated by people of color. I want to listen, listen again and then listen more. I want to ask questions instead of inserting my opinions. I want to help break chains of systemic injustice and align with systems and organizations of equality and love. I will help change the narrative of systematic racism that continues to cripple generations.

If seeing the world has taught me anything, it's that I believe in humanity. If coming back home to America has taught me anything, it's that we all have a long way to go. I am committed to building an America that I am proud of, an America where people of color are loved, valued and respected.
