Ah yes. Oakland Gyros .... My ultimate guilty pleasure. I still remember the first time my buddy Joe took me to this sacred place when I moved to Milwaukee. I’m pretty sure it was a late night run... typical. The line was long but it always moves quick. You really gotta know what you want when you step up to the register. I remember being confused by the chewing gum sized piece of paper they handed me with my receipt (rookie). On it are about 25 numbers... turns out the last two are your order numbers. Just one of many small, but charming details you encounter at this family run joint. Almost every time I’m there, one of the owners greets me as he heads to wipe down tables or deliver someone’s order to their table. Speaking of orders, mine is always the same. Gyro combo with cheese fries and chocolate shake. Boom. Mouth = salivating.
