MantraType 001 - "Be At Your Level"
A personal series of the mantras I abide by. I know these can be preachy and "influence-y", and I don't want to force any doctrine. So I'll provide a short story with each one to give you more context of why these speak to me. Feel free to use as a desktop wallpaper.
"Be At Your Level" is something my friend and I came up with that applies to a couple of things I deal with on the daily: imposter syndrome and shrinking oneself to be liked. The former is self explanatory, so I'll elaborate on the latter. I picked up the habit of shrinking myself in childhood, when classmates of mine would harbour resentment/jealousy when I did well in school assignments. Unfortunately, it latched on as an adult and manifested itself in different ways, like in dating or compensation, when I would settle for less than what I deserved. This serves to me as a constant reminder when I'm trying to take action or make decisions that I shouldn't make myself small in any way to be liked or respected or validated. I know what I'm worth, I know my value, and I'm gonna stay up here.
