Whiskey Magazine Illustration

This was a piece I illustrated for Malt Advocate magazine. Terry Sullivan, one of their regular contributors, wrote a humorous article about crazy garnishes that bartenders are putting in martinis these days (Oreos…apparently a thing).

I worked with outside creative director Pamela Wilson on the project and it was tons of fun. I pitched the concept of a shrimp in a hot tub and she let me run with it. I created the main image in Adobe Illustrator, and the background is a color-adjusted photo of the hardwood floor in my studio, to give the feel of a dark, wood-paneled bar.

The editors were thrilled with the result.
