WPAP ( Wedha's Pop Art Potrait)
What is WPAP?
WPAP or Wedha's Pop Art Potrait is a human portrait illustration style which is dominated by flat areas of bright front (known as bloom boxed photo), middle and rear to create dimensions, which are formed from bold imaginary lines where the face shape, the position of the facial elements and The proportions remain the same as the original portrait with a creative tracing process that is not 100 percent subject to what is being traced.
What is unique from the process of finding this graphic illustration, in making illustrated images, Wheda with original photo references with a high degree of difficulty, especially concerning the suitability of skin color and smoothness of scratches. To overcome this, he began to make firm design lines which were then filled with colors. It becomes easier and any image display is easily recognized as who or what figure. Wedha at first did not suspect that the technique he created was of artistic value, considering that the technique was done because at that time (around the 90s) the power of vision and its level of accuracy had decreased due to age.
Until finally there was a man named Gumelar, Chair of the Department of Visual Communication Design at Multimedia Nusantara University who was fascinated by Wedha's work and sought to spread this art flow throughout Indonesia. As a result, in various cities, an arts community has been formed which is fond of WPAP techniques. The popularity of WPAP in Indonesia makes this technique known as Wedhaism.
