Herringbone by Super Love

Album cover for the single "Herringbone" by the band Super Love.

“Herringbone” is a song about getting in step with a crush, as viewed through the eyes of a stalker. While the soulful vocals hint at affection, the aggressive tone accentuates the lyrics' true intent.

For the cover of the single, I played off the "Herringbone" title with both the cobbled background and the herringbone hat. The subjects wear the emotion of the song on their faces, with the main subject very present for the photo yet oblivious of the stalker's desire for him. The monochrome color palette gives a nod to film noire and the femme fatales therein, while the ragged-cut paper edges of the photos emphasize the unrequited lust of the stalker.
