Postcard from the Future - "Nascard"

The latest postcard from the future with Fusion powered electric stock car racing.

'A NEW CIRCUIT'

In a 2041 campaign to bring fusion vehicles (FVs) to the general public, American car manufacturers revived a previously defunct tradition, NASCAR.

Although NASCAR was shutdown in the late 2030s due to federal emissions regulations, the Talladega 500 was revived in south Florida as the first Fusion powered race. Since the vehicles were silent, the cars and track were modified to make new, other-worldly sounds that were safe for human ears. During pit-stop charging breaks, fans were invited into the track's infield for a chance to meet their favorite drivers. VIP audience members could pilot cockpit simulators connected to autonomous FVs on the track. Since the AFVs movements are remotely regulated by mixed-reality systems, these pilots could race against real racers without anyone being in danger.
