UI/UX Designer + Visual/Branding — 1-Week Sprint for Mindfulness App Feature Launch

About us Sunkara Wellness is a mental-health startup with a mindfulness journaling app already live on the App Store. The app helps users train the brain networks associated with mindfulness meditation through guided audio lessons and an AI-powered journal that analyzes mood and recommends personalized exercises.

We’re now preparing to launch The Hero’s Journey — an adaptive narrative experience that teaches mindfulness through interactive and adaptive storytelling — along with v2 of our journaling feature and an updated lesson player. We’re looking for a designer to help refine the UI/UX, improve visual cohesion, and shape the brand direction for this major release.

Scope (deliverables in 1 week)

Lesson Player v2: updated audio UI, playback states, and accessibility improvements.
Journal v2: redesigned editor and feedback/recommendation card.
Hero’s Journey Feature: layout for different styles of story frames + branding and visual direction suggestions for the new mode.
Handoff: clean Figma components, spec notes, and short rationale for design decisions.

Must-have experience

Shipped iOS mobile UI (Figma, components/variants, Auto Layout).
Strong typography, color, and visual hierarchy; capable of light illustration/art direction for story frames.

Nice to have

Experience with mental health or mindfulness apps, or game/narrative UI.
Familiarity with Apple HIG, especially audio and accessibility guidelines.

Figma file containing current app screens and templates.
App Design Spec and Hero’s Journey Act I–II content deck.
Sample audio files, journal prompts, and brand assets.

Compensation & logistics

Weekly fixed fee: $1,000 USD
Timeline: 5 business days (approx. 40 hours); daily Slack stand-ups and async feedback in Figma.
Contract: standard work-for-hire + NDA; net 7 on final handoff.
