Job Title: Junior Designer

Reports to: Creative Director

Based in: Torrance, CA - a South Bay city in the greater Los Angeles area

Major Functions & Accountability

Creative Services | Junior Designers at Brand33 must:

  • Thrive on interdisciplinary collaboration with copywriters, designers, traffic managers, account executives and development team as required

  • Junior Designers are specifically responsible for making the creative platform come to life. These concepts must be strategically accurate with compelling stories that peak the target audiences’ interest and drive them to engage.

  • Junior Designers must develop a complete understanding of the client, their category and the work being done by the competition.

  • Junior Designers may have direct interaction with the client when deemed appropriate by the entire account team.

  • Collaborate to create internal and external brand comms both in physical print and digital.

  • Candidate will have an understanding of graphic design, layout principles, experience with print production, general typography and typesetting.

Job Tasks | Daily a Junior Designer must:

  • Develop appropriate creative concepts for Brand assets (Logos, ID Systems, Environmental Graphics), Non-traditional (outdoor, out-of-home), Digital (e-blasts, display ads, video, web design), Social and Print (ads/collateral/and more).

  • Be prolific—there is more than one way to field dress an armadillo.

  • Be inquisitive. Know the latest and greatest, the hippest and coolest techniques being used in advertising. Seek out new production processes and media opportunities to expand the possibilities.

  • Be the most culturally literate person in the building. Listen to music. Go to art museums. Get a tattoo. Whatever!

  • Accurately and in a detailed fashion, account for his or her time.

  • Ultimately be responsible for the accuracy and correctness of all materials presented to the client to gain approval at any stage of development.

  • Be prepared to justify any creative decisions with written justifications that prove the concept is on strategy/brand.

  • Understand how what you are doing impacts your project, your team, your office, and your company.

  • Assist teams with research exploration and ideation.

Necessary Skills | A Junior Designer must have the following skills:

  • An ability to think strategically and translate that into memorable concepts.

  • An ability to work well as a team member.

  • An ability to eloquently present work to clients as required.

  • A willingness to work hard and do whatever it takes to add value and to move our client’s business forward.

Proficiency in the following software programs:

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Keynote and PowerPoint

  • Word

Working knowledge of the following software programs preferred:

  • Premier and Adobe After Effects

Helpful if you have:

  • Photography, sound editing, and/or videography skills

  • Working knowledge of web design solutions

Other Requirements: Degree from a recognized art institution and/or a portfolio indicating the ability to perform the job.

Working Conditions: Working conditions are normal for an in-office environment. May occasionally require weekend and evening work.

Compensation | Annual Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000
