Product Designer
Senior Product and Web Designer
About Miscreants
Miscreants is a global digital marketing and design agency, focused on cybersecurity companies. We’re a team of ex-security analysts, strategists, designers, marketers, and all-around problem solvers who have made it our mission to build better systems and experiences for the cybersecurity industry.
Our services run the gamut from physical brand activations to digital product experiences.
We are a fully-remote team primarily based in the United States and Europe. We believe in sourcing the best talent so we can consistently deliver top notch results to our clients.
The Role
We're looking for a mid to senior-level Product Designer who isn’t afraid to jump in on web design projects from time to time.
You’ll work closely with our Product Lead to help our clients craft engaging user experiences that make complex workflows feel simple. You’ll typically be establishing new design systems and setting the look and feel for the products you work on.
You’ll also collaborate with our web design team, taking on web design projects or helping to make sure that the web and product experiences are cohesive.
This role requires someone who can learn quickly, digest lots of technical details, and has a strong product sense. You need to be equally comfortable working in low fidelity wireframes and high fidelity mockups.
Note: must be in a timezone between Central Standard Time and Central European Time.
Your responsibilities will include:
Producing wireframes and high-fidelity, interactive prototypes for new products and features in Figma.
Creating well-organized, maintainable design systems from scratch or improving on existing systems.
Designing engaging, maintainable marketing sites that convey a client’s brand and resonate with their target audience.
Working with other Miscreants teammates to ideate and explore design directions for new products and brands.
Participating in design critiques with the Miscreants team and with clients (you must take feedback well).
Working with developers on client teams to help them understand and implement your designs.
Building strong client and team relationships through clear communication.
Creating and delivering presentations that communicate the process (the why) behind your design decisions.
Serving as a trusted advisor, helping clients navigate difficult product and brand decisions.
What We're Looking For
Detail oriented
Most of your work will be creating production-ready, high-fidelity mockups and working with the client’s team to get these implemented. You should have a sharp eye for details in your design and pay attention to things like consistent typography, spacing and use of color.
Eye for aesthetics
We create software that solves problems and looks great doing it (nobody wants to use ugly software!). You should be a creative visual designer with an understanding of how aesthetics impact user experience and perception.
Strong communication skills
The success of a project and the client’s experience often depends as much or more on your communication skills as it does on your designs themselves. It is important that you can communicate the process behind your work, navigate and interpret client feedback, and work with developers to implement your designs.
Experience designs as a user
We believe the best designers excel when you can put yourself in the shoes of the users and your clients. You should seek out feedback on your ideas as a way to push your work to the best it can be. You need to always make thoughtful considerations for things like error messages, empty states, and edge cases.
Comfort with technical, data-heavy applications
Cybersecurity products are often extremely technical and need to display large volumes of data in a way that isn’t overwhelming, but also gives users a broad view of what’s going on in their systems. This means understanding technical concepts, and balancing data density with the flow of an application.
